SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury's Mellie Wijk was named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Athlete of the Week in women's swimming for the second time this season.
 
Wijk, a senior from Halmstad, Sweden, won two individual events, was part of two relay wins, and was the runner-up in two other events in Drury's dual with Oklahoma Christian last weekend. Wijk won the 100 Breast and established an NCAA-II A-cut time of 1:00.96. She also won the 100 Fly (54.02) and she helped the Panthers to relay wins in the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Medley Relay. Wijk was the runner-up in the 50 Free (23.64) and the 100 Free (51.47).
 
The Panthers won the two-day dual 215-93.
 
The weekly award is the second such honor for Wijk this season. She also won the award on Nov. 13. The weekly award marks the fourth time that Drury women's swimming has been honored this season, as Jonette Laegreid took the award on Oct. 30 and Nov. 26.
 
The Drury women's swimming & diving team is ranked third in NCAA-II and competes again Feb. 11-15 at the GLVC Championship in Elkhart, Ind.
