SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury men's soccer took down No. 18 Rockhurst in a 1-0 win in a Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) matchup on Sunday, Oct. 26.
Rockhurst came out strong in the first half, recording three shots and two corner kicks within the first eight minutes.
Cayden Meyer had Drury's first shot in the 12
th minute, but couldn't find the target. The Hawks continued to press the Panther defense with shots in the 16
th and 22
nd minutes. Rockhurst closed the half with a shot in the 45
th minute. The teams went into the half even at 0-0.
Drury entered the second half looking to find an answer.
Tyrell Phinn opened the half with a shot in the 46
th minute. The Panthers continued to attack with shots in the 53
rd and 59
th minutes from
Rian Mulherin,
Mattheo Ledoux, and
Lui Bull.
Camden Meyer was called to make a save from a Rockhurst shot in the 69
th minute. A cross from
George Lamb found
Rian Mulherin at the back post, who headed it home in the 71
st minute to grab a 1-0 lead.
The Panthers defended all the Hawks' attacks in the final 19 minutes.
Camden Meyer made two more saves in the 72
nd and 80
th minutes to preserve the shutout. Drury handed Rockhurst–ranked 18
th nationally and leading the GLVC–their first loss in the GLVC.
