SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury men's soccer secured a spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament with a 2-1 win over Southwest Baptist on Friday in Bolivar, Mo. 
 
It was an eventful first half in Bolivar. Cayden Meyer opened the game with a shot on target in the second minute. Meyer kept firing and found the back of the net in the seventh minute, giving Drury a 1-0 lead. Southwest Baptist responded with shots in the ninth and 12^th minutes. A foul in the Panther box gave the Bearcats a penalty in the 14^th minute, which they scored to tie the game. Drury couldn't find a response until the 45^th minute when Rian Mulherin forced another save from the Bearcats' goalkeeper. The teams went into halftime even at 1-1. 
 
The Panthers entered the second half needing a goal. Carson Morgan opened the half with a shot in the 58^th minute. A scramble after a Drury corner led to Gage Vehr scoring a volley to put the Panthers up 2-1 in the 61^st minute. Drury continued to battle through a physical, chippy half, with shots from Mulherin in the 62^nd minute and Morgan in the 78^thminute. Panthers saw out the 2-1 win and clinched a spot in the GLVC Tournament. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Gage Vehr scored a volley off a scramble in the box in the 61^st minute to go 2-1 up.
• Mulherin and Morgan continued to press the Bearcats' defense with shots in the 62^nd and 78^th minutes.
• Panthers saw out the 2-1 win and secured a spot in the GLVC Tournament.

• Carson Morgan, Camden Meyer, and Rian Mulherin featured in all 90 minutes against Southwest Baptist.
• Morgan and Meyer have played every minute this season. 
• There were a total of 12 yellow cards in the physical contest against Southwest Baptist.
• Drury's 2-1 over Southwest Baptist is their second away win this season.
• Drury has won four straight games.  
• The Panthers currently sit fourth in the GLVC before every other team plays this weekend and have guaranteed their spot in the GLVC Tournament.
• Drury improves to 7-4-5 overall and 7-4-3 in GLVC play.

Drury concludes the regular season with one last nonconference matchup against  Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Kickoff in Springfield, Mo., is set for 7:00 p.m.
