Late Goal Forces Drury to 2-2 Tie Against Illinois Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Drury men's soccer played to a 2-2 draw against Illinois Springfield in the first Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) matchup of the weekend.

The first half started the best way possible for the Panthers. A Joe Loughnane free kick created chaos in the box, and allowed Cayden Meyer to find Lui Bull, who scored with the first shot of the game in the fourth minute. Illinois Springfield responded with a string of shots in the 12th, 17th, and 21st minutes. Late in the first half, Jorge Dorta had a shot off a corner kick. The Panthers went into halftime leading 1-0.

The second half started slowly, but quickly became chaotic. Another Joe Loughnane free kick resulted in Cayden Meyer scoring the first goal of his Drury career. Lui Bull forced a save from the Prairie Stars' goalkeeper in the 63rd minute, followed by Carlos Chicas and Liam Olson with chances later in the half. With 10 minutes remaining, Illinois Springfield scored to make things interesting. Drury tried to see the win out, but conceded in the final seconds of the game. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
