12/15/2025 3:15:00 PM

The Drury men's lacrosse program has announced its captains for the Spring 2026 season, following a team-wide vote by the players. Defenseman Andrew Philbin and senior attackman Nathan Reichardt were selected by their teammates to lead the Panthers, a testament to the respect, trust, and confidence they have earned within the program.

Captaincy in the Drury men's lacrosse program is not simply a title — it is a responsibility rooted in accountability, consistency, and service to the team. For Philbin and Reichardt, leadership has been demonstrated daily through action, not words.

Andrew Philbin has become a cornerstone of the Panthers' defensive unit, known for his reliability, competitiveness, and passion for the game. Teammates consistently point to his commitment as one of his defining qualities.

"He shows up to everything," one teammate shared. "He's honest, caring, down to earth, and passionate about the game. He's not afraid to hold people accountable when standards slip."

That accountability is paired with a genuine desire to see others succeed. Philbin's leadership style centers on improvement — both individually and collectively.

"He's always trying to make me better," another player noted. "He takes accountability for the team and makes sure everyone is doing their job."

Whether on the field, in the weight room, or during team activities, Philbin sets a standard through preparation and effort. His approach reflects a belief that leadership is earned through consistency and trust, qualities that resonated strongly with his teammates during the voting process.

Joining Philbin as captain is senior attackman Nathan Reichardt, a veteran presence who has represented Drury lacrosse with pride throughout his career. Reichardt's leadership is rooted in positivity, experience, and an unwavering commitment to the program.

"Nathan always has a smile on his face and is looking to push others to be better than they are," a teammate said. "He's been around a long time and looks at the team with pride."

Reichardt may not always be the loudest voice in the room, but his impact is undeniable. His consistency across all areas of the student-athlete experience — athletics, academics, and personal conduct — has made him a model for younger players.

"He exemplifies what it means to lead," another player shared. "Not always the most vocal, but he does what he's supposed to do when he's supposed to do it — on the field, in the weight room, and most importantly in the classroom."

Throughout his four years wearing the Drury uniform, Reichardt has set a high bar for professionalism and responsibility. His academic reliability and dedication to representing the university the right way stood out clearly to his peers.

"This individual has never had issues staying eligible and shows what it means to wear DU on the front of the jersey," a teammate added. "I would trust this person to lead more than just a team on and off the field."

Together, Philbin and Reichardt represent a balanced leadership pairing — one rooted in accountability and intensity, the other in experience and positivity. Both captains embody the values the Drury men's lacrosse program strives to instill: commitment, integrity, effort, and pride.

As the Panthers prepare for the Spring 2026 season, the selection of Philbin and Reichardt signals a strong foundation moving forward. Chosen by their teammates, these captains will be tasked with guiding the program through daily standards, competitive moments, and the shared pursuit of growth — on the field, in the classroom, and beyond.
