Drury STUNT secures first NCAA win in Maryville Tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Drury STUNT had a competitive weekend at the Maryville Tournament, finishing with a 2-2 record. The Panthers secured their first NCAA win against Lewis while also earning a strong victory over Central Methodist.
 
Game 1: Drury vs. Lewis
Drury started the weekend with a dominant performance against Lewis. The Panthers set the tone early, earning both partner stunt points in Q1, showcasing their precision and execution. Their strength continued into Q2, where they shut out Lewis in pyramids and tosses, extending their lead to 3-0 at halftime.
 
Lewis fought back in Q3, splitting points in jumps and tumbling, bringing the score to 4-2. The fourth quarter was a battle, but Drury closed out strong, securing points in partner stunts, pyramids, and jumps and tumbling, sealing a 7-4 victory—marking Drury STUNT's first NCAA win.
 
"I couldn't be prouder of my athletes," said Coach Kayla Duffey-Mackey. "These young women come in at 6:00 AM every morning ready to work. Our team motto is 'As One,' and they truly embodied that today. It is an incredible time to be a female athlete competing in STUNT!"
 
Game 2: Drury vs. Maryville
Facing No. 4-ranked Maryville, Drury fought to earn a point in partner stunts but was shut out in the remaining quarters. Maryville took control, winning 20-1.
 
Game 3: Drury vs. Tiffin
Drury and Tiffin battled in a tight game, trading points throughout. After splitting partner stunts in Q1, they remained evenly matched in pyramids and tosses. However, Tiffin gained the edge in jumps and tumbling, taking 3 of 4 points. Despite Drury's fight, Tiffin held on to win 12-8.
 
Game 4: Drury vs. Central Methodist
Drury finished strong against Central Methodist, dominating Q1 by winning 3 of 4 partner stunt points. Their momentum continued in pyramids and tosses, shutting out CMU. Drury remained in control, securing additional points in team routine to win 12-4.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers start competition in the Central Arkansas tournament on March 7 against Southwest Baptist.
