SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Drury University Men's Lacrosse team hosted a pair of home games this past weekend, battling St. John's University (MN) on Saturday night before taking on Washington University in St. Louis (MO) in a crucial LSA North Sub-Divisional match-up on Sunday.

Saturday Recap: Drury Falls in a Heartbreaker

In Saturday night's showdown against St. John's, the Panthers came out strong, building a 7-4 lead at one point. However, St. John's mounted a late comeback, edging Drury in a tightly contested 8-7 loss. Despite the defeat, the Panthers showed significant improvement against a strong opponent compared to last year's meeting.

"I mean I'm happy with certain aspects of that game," said Head Coach Dustin Rich, "We certainly played them better than last year, but it's tough to let that one slip away. I think all the guys were disappointed we didn't pull that one out."

Sunday Recap: Panthers Take Down WashU in Playoff-Implication Battle

Drury quickly turned the page on Sunday, delivering a dominant first quarter against Washington University in an LSA North Sub-Divisional contest. The Panthers jumped out to an 8-1 lead by the end of the opening period and maintained control throughout, securing an 18-12 victory. The win helps solidify Drury's position in the LSA Conference playoffs.

"We got off to a quick start," said Coach Rich, "and we let them get back in to the game more than we should have probably, but we finished the game. Honestly that's a big win for us. Puts us in very good positioning to get a spot in the conference playoffs."

Stat Leaders for the Weekend: The Panthers will look to carry their momentum forward as they continue their push toward postseason play. Drury's next games are Friday April 4 and Saturday April 5 in Stillwater, OK. Those games will be played against Oklahoma State and Creighton respectively.

All games for the 2025 season will be livestreamed on YouTube.
