Claire Conover and Mellie Wijk named Academic All-Americans

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Two Drury swimmers were named to the 2024-25 women's swimming & diving All-America Team by the College Sports Communicators. Senior Claire Conover and senior Mellie Wijk both earned First Team honors to the All-America squad, the CSC announced this week.
 
A native of Wichita, Kansas, Conover placed in five events at this year's NCAA-II National Championships. She won bronze medals in the 200 Breaststroke and 100 Breastroke. Conover was fourth in the 100 Individual Medley as well as the 200 IM, and she was part of a national runner-up 800 Free Relay team. At the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships, she was second in the 100 IM and 200 IM, and was third in the 200 Breast and 100 Breast.

Academically, Conover has been a two-time Academic All-District performer and an Academic All-GLVC award winner every year of her career. The Biology major carried a 3.93 grade point average into this spring semester at Drury. This is the second time in Conover's career she has earned Academic All-America honors.
 
Mellie Wijk earned Academic All-America honors for the second year in a row. Wijk led the NCAA-II national meet in points as she won two national championships, taking the 200 IM and the 200 Fly. She was also the national runner-up in the 100 Fly and the 200 Breast and was part of second-place relay teams in the 400 Medley Relay and 800 Free Relay. Wijk was also on Drury's 400 Free Relay team that finished sixth. She was the GLVC Swimmer of the Year for the second straight season, winning conference titles in six events.

The native of Halmstead, Sweden, is a Communications major with a 3.82 GPA and was also a First Team Academic All-American last year. She has earned Academic All-District honors in each of the last two years and has been an Academic All-GLVC honoree every year of her career.
 
The Drury women's swimming & diving team won the 2025 GLVC Championship and was the National Runner-Up at this year's NCAA-II Championships in Indianapolis.
