COAL VALLEY, Ill.— After a slow start in their first nine holes, the Drury women's golf team surged into fourth place at the end of Friday's second round at the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship held at the Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Illinois. The Panthers were in ninth place midway through the opening round, but shot into fourth by the end of the first round, then held onto that spot through their second 18 holes of the day.
The top four teams after 54 holes advance to a medal match play tournament on Sunday.

th ranked Missouri-St. Louis leads the tournament after shooting 43-over par after 36 holes. Indianapolis is 10 shots back in second place, and Illinois Springfield is in third at 63-over par. The Panthers are 68-over par and will enter Saturday's third round with a seven-shot advantage over fifth-place Maryville.
Isabelle Thrall leads Drury after two rounds and is tied for sixth in the field of 72 after posting a +9, 154. The senior from Wentzville, Missouri, was three-over after the opening round and shot a +9, 80 in the second round.
Jade Carter is tied for 12
th after shooting a +15, 157, and
Grace Stafford is tied for 21
st at 19-over par (161).
Taryn Overstreet is tied for 31
st and is 22-over par (164), while
Avery Chappell is at 36-over par and is tied for 61
st.
Elizabeth Adkisson, playing as an independent, is also tied for 61
st at 36-over par.
Elaine Grant from Illinois Springfield leads the tournament after shooting a +4, 147, and owns a one-shot lead over Caroline Whallon from Indianapolis.
The third and final round of stroke play starts Saturday morning.
