SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury opened up the Drury Tournament on Saturday in the O'Reilly Family Event Center with a win over #22 Quincy, 16-1, and a loss to #10 St. Mary's (Tex.), 18-6.
Drury vs Quincy
#13 Drury delivered a win against #22 Quincy, earning a decisive 16-1 victory. Drury started strong in the first quarter, winning the first two rounds and capitalizing on Quincy's mistakes to build early momentum. In the second quarter, Drury continued their control, taking two more points while Quincy had repeated forfeits.
The Panthers were sharp in the third quarter, sweeping all four rounds of jumps and tumbling. The final quarter saw Drury adding four more points in the team routine segment, while Quincy was unable to recover from multiple forfeits across rounds.
Drury vs St. Mary's
#13 Drury took on #10 St. Mary's (Tex.), falling 18-6 in a competitive matchup. Drury opened strong in the first quarter, earning the first point on routine seven and splitting the final round, keeping it tight at 2-2 early. In the second quarter, Drury showed flashes of strength with a clean win in the first round of pyramids and tosses, but St. Mary's capitalized on key mistakes and forfeits to pull ahead.
The third quarter saw Drury struggle to find rhythm in jumps and tumbling, while St. Mary's picked up crucial points and maintained momentum. In the fourth quarter, St. Mary's strength was on full display during the team routine, scoring in every round and closing out the game confidently, 18-6.
