Panthers Play to a 1-1 Draw Against Tritons in GLVC Opener

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Drury men's soccer played to a 1-1 draw against Missouri-St. Louis Sunday in its first Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) matchup.

Both teams created numerous chances in the first half. Abdullah Iqbal had two early strikes and missed just right of the goal in the 15th minute. Drury was given a lot of set-piece opportunities, setting up a long-range volley for Mattheo Ledoux in the 20th minute. The Tritons scored in the 23rd  minute of the match, after the Panthers couldn't get the ball out of their defensive half. Drury responded well, stopping UMSL from taking any more shots after their goal, and created a lot of chances for themselves. Dane Prost found the back of the net in the 30th minute off a free kick, but was waved off for offside. The Panthers continued to look for a way back in, but went into the break trailing by a goal.

The game heated up in the second half. Lui Bull had the first two shots of the second half, forcing a good string of saves from UMSL. It wasn't much longer until Mason Platts bagged his first goal of the season, placing the ball in the top right corner for the equalizer in the 62nd  minute. After the goal, the Tritons put the pressure back on Drury's defense. Camden Meyer pulled off two great saves in the 76th and 78th minute marks to stop UMSL from finding the winner. The match in St. Louis ended 1-1.
