SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Drury finished the Dan Salisbury Invitational hosted by the University of Illinois Springfield in fourth place. The Panthers were led by senior
Grace Stafford.
Starting day two of the invitational in fifth place, Stafford improved by one spot and finished fourth with a +5 in the third round. Meanwhile,
Chloe Wills recorded the second-best score in the Drury lineup, carding a +8 in the third round.
Drury held their position as a team from the start of the day, ultimately finishing the tournament in fourth place. Over the first three rounds, a third round +43 increased Drury's total to +119.
McKendree maintained their first place through the second day, beating out Maryville by 19 strokes. Maryville's Fernanda Diaz-Pizarro won the tournament, shooting eight over through three rounds.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Grace Stafford's fourth-place finish was her best of her career.
- Chloe Wills had the highest jump of any Panther today, improving her position by five spots over the third round.
- Stafford was tied with UIS, Elaine Grant, for the lowest average strokes on par fours with a 4.23.
- Stafford also finished with eight birdies, the second most in the field behind Grant from UIS.
