Hawkins' Late Goal Gives Drury the 1-0 Win over Lincoln

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Holland Hawkins' goal in the 78th minute propelled Drury women's soccer to a 1-0 win over Lincoln on Sunday afternoon at Harrison Stadium in Springfield.

Drury's offense continued its aggressiveness from Friday against Missouri S&T. The Panthers took 11 shots in the first 30 minutes of play, including seven from the 25th to 30th minute. Despite the multitude of shots, Drury was not able to see one find the back of the net.

The Panthers' defense tightened up in the second half, allowing only two shots from Lincoln, none in the final 34 minutes.

As the final ten minutes of regulation were closing in, Keira Love received a cross inside the penalty area. Love would then find Holland Hawkins, who would turn and curl the ball into the lower corner to score the game's lone goal.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Holland Hawkins has now scored in consecutive games after not recording a point in the first three matches of the season. It is only the second time in Hawkins' career that she has scored in consecutive matches. (Sept. 27/29, 2024)
  • Hawkins now has four career game winning goals, tied with Bella Hernandez for the most of any active Panther soccer player men's or women's.
  • Keira Love's assist was her second of the season. She now leads the Panthers with six points this season.
  • Katy Fitzler's shutout was the 16th of her career, ranking fourth all-time in Drury history, just one behind Tina Haberberger for third place.
  • Fitzler lowered her career goals against average to .62, still the Drury career record.
  • Freshman Brooke Teter made her first career start on the back line for Drury.
  • The Drury defense allowed five shots from the Blue Tigers. That is the fewest amount of shots Drury has allowed in a game since Nov. 10, 2024, against Indianapolis, where zero shots were taken by the Greyhounds.
  • The Panthers' offense took 24 shots on the Blue Tigers today. This is the most since Oct. 20, 2024, against Quincy, where Drury took 25.
  • Drury now holds a 2-0 all-time record against Lincoln.
  • Under Justin Olson, the Panthers are now 5-0-1 in home GLVC openers with a +6 goal differential.
