Drury Draws With No. 11 Maryville in Defensive Battle

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury women's soccer picked up one Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) point on Friday evening against No. 11 Maryville at Harrison Stadium after a 0-0 draw.
 
The Saints controlled a majority of the possessions in the first half, keeping the Panthers on the defensive in the first 45 minutes.
 
The second half saw Drury go on runs offensively, led by Keira Love to find shots on net. Kadence Krempges got the first shot on goal of the game in the 64th minute. This started a three-minute run in which Drury put up three shots.
 
A Katy Fitzler save in the 83rd minute kept her sheet clean as the Saints gave one last offensive push.
 
As the final minute dwindled, Holland Hawkins and Caroline Dinnon were both able to get a shot off their foot but were unable to find the back of the net.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Katy Fitzler recorded her 17th career shutout in 29 games. She now ranks tied for third in Drury history for most career shutouts.
  • The Panthers outshot the Saints 11 to 5 and 4 to 2 in shots on goal.
  • Drury only used four of their reserves, with Elli Davison playing the most, for 30 minutes.
  • Drury still holds the all-time record against Maryville, 7-6-7.
  • Drury is now 3-2-5 against Maryville while playing in Springfield.
  • The Panthers are now 1-1-1 following a win this season and 34-12-11 following a win under Justin Olson.
  • The Saints were the Panthers' first-ranked opponent of the 2025 season.
  • Under Olson, Drury is now 4-4-1 against teams ranked in the top-25.
  • Maryville was the first-ranked visiting team to play at Harrison Stadium since Delta State in the 2021 season.
