SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury women's soccer dropped its first Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) match on Sunday afternoon to McKendree, 2-0, at Harrison Stadium.
The first three minutes of the match were a flurry for both teams. The Bearcats put two shots on goal, with Drury getting one on net from
Kadence Krempges. Both teams got a number of opportunities in the first half, none bigger than
Elena Perez's penalty kick in the 41st minute. Perez would miss the PK but get her rebound; however, the put-back opportunity would sail above the net.
McKendree started the second half strong, getting the match's first goal in the 49th minute. The Bearcats put the game on ice in the 78th minute with their second goal. Drury would have five shots following the second goal, but were unable to have any cross the line.
MATCH POINTS
- The win for McKendree breaks the all-time series tie, giving the Bearcats a 10-9-2 record against the Panthers.
- Drury took 22 shots in the match, out shooting McKendree by nine. Nine of the Panthers' shots were on goal.
- Nine shots on goal is the most the Panthers have had this season.
- Kadence Krempges led Drury with seven shots, four of them on net.
- Katy Fitzler recorded six saves in the match.
- Holland Hawkins picked up her fourth yellow card of the season. One more will result in a one-game suspension.
- Drury recorded a season high of 12 fouls.
