Panthers Held to a 1-1 Tie Against Northeastern State in Season Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury men's soccer played to a 1-1 draw against Northeastern State Thursday evening in the Panthers' 2025 season-opening match at Harrison Stadium.

The first half was a tight battle, with both teams pushing for early goal opportunities. The Panthers recorded five corners in the first half and created their first goal of the 2025 season. Mason Platts was fouled in the box after a rebound opportunity came from a deep corner. Senior Joe Loughnane stepped up for the penalty and scored in the 28th minute for the only goal scored in the first half.

The second half was an uphill battle for the Panthers. An early red card in the 50th minute saw Drury drop to 10 men. The team defended well until the Riverhawks scored a late goal in the 80th minute from outside the box. Drury had a couple of late chances but ultimately could not find the winner.
