Wills Paces Panthers at Grace Shin Invitational

EDMOND, Okla. – Drury finished tied for 16th at the Grace Shin Invitational on Oct. 6, led by an eighth-place finish from Chloe Wills.
 
The 36-hole tournament at The Golf Club of Edmond was contested over two days with one round played each day. The par-71 course measured 5,922 yards and featured 21 teams and 119 individuals. Drury was the lone GLVC representative in the field.
 
Henderson State and Southeastern Oklahoma State each shot 14 over par to tie for the team title. Arkansas-Fort Smith (+22) rounded out the top three. Drury (+56) tied for 16th with Redlands Community College.
 
Southeastern Oklahoma's Emma Thompson (-4) won the tournament after moving up seven spots in the final round. Addi Wood of Concordia-St. Paul and Maria Velilla of Southeastern Oklahoma each finished at 2 under to tie for second. Chloe Wills (+2) was Drury's top finisher, tying for eighth. Jade Carter (+12) was Drury's second-highest finisher and placed 45th.
 
TOURNAMENT NOTES
  • Drury's second round was its lowest of the tournament at 311.
  • Wills' top-10 finish was her second straight finish inside the top 10.
  • Wills shot a 71 in the second round, her lowest round of the season.
  • Wills averaged even par on par 3s.
  • As a team, Drury recorded 40 bogeys or worse in the first round and 35 in the second round.
