No. 11 Men's Soccer Unable to Break Through in 0-0 Draw Against Rockhurst

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No. 11 Drury men's soccer battled Rockhurst to a scoreless draw in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) action Wednesday night.

The first scoring opportunity of the match came in the 11th minute, when Sam Tagg fired a shot that forced Rockhurst goalkeeper Luke Strueby to make a save. Jack Brinkman and Steen Voller followed with shots in the 12th and 16th minutes, but neither could find the target. Rockhurst generated its first chance of the match in the 17th minute on a shot from Sam McIntosh, but his attempt went off target. Caua Nascimento created scoring opportunities in the 26th and 34th minutes, but GLVC Defender of the Week Strueby turned away both attempts. Antonio Santos had Drury's final opportunity of the half, firing a shot following a corner kick, but Strueby made another save to send the teams into halftime scoreless.

Rockhurst found its footing in the second half, as Gavin Hudnall registered the opening shot of the period in the 49th minute. Nascimento continued to pose a threat offensively, forcing another save from Strueby in the 59th minute. Mason Platts' bicycle-kick attempt was saved in the 80th minute, and Lui Bull's follow-up effort was blocked by the Hawks' defense. The Panthers continued to push for a breakthrough, as Nascimento had another shot saved in the 85th minute. The ensuing rebound fell to Voller, whose attempt struck the outside of the post, narrowly missing the go-ahead goal. The final whistle sounded five minutes later, with the Panthers settling for a point against Rockhurst.
