Bryson Humphries (So., 125, Owasso, Okla.)
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury's Bryson Humphries is set to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championship on Friday, March 13, in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Humphries opens the 125-pound national championship bracket with a play-in match against Northern State's Sloan Johannsen. The two previously met at the Midwest Classic, where Johannsen won by an 11-1 major decision. The winner will face No. 8 Logan Sallot of Gannon.
On Friday, preliminaries and first-round matchups begin at 10 a.m., with quarterfinals and first- and second-round consolations starting at 5 p.m. Saturday will open with semifinals and wrestle-backs at 10 a.m., with the championship finals taking place at 7 p.m.
Wrestlers who place in the top eight of their respective brackets earn All-America honors.
The sophomore from Owasso, Okla., clinched a spot in the national tournament with his third-place finish at the NCAA Division II Super Regional IV. Humphries went 4-1 in the tournament, recording one fall and three decisions.
LOOKING AHEAD
If Humphries advances into the top eight of the bracket, he will compete Saturday, March 14.
