SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No. 18 Drury men's soccer's winning streak came to a halt after Indianapolis scored a late equalizer in a 3-3 tie on Saturday.
Indianapolis started the match with two shots in the seventh and 11th minutes that did not find the target. Drury responded and scored on its first shot of the game, as
Lui Bull found the top right corner off an assist from
Steen Voller, putting the Panthers up 1-0 in the 15th minute. Seven minutes later,
Caua Nascimento stole the ball and found the back of the net to create a two-goal advantage. Nascimento had another clear-cut opportunity moments after his goal, but his shot was stopped by the Greyhound defense.
The momentum shifted away from the Panthers late in the first half, as Indianapolis responded in the 36th minute with a goal from Hugo Paturel. Just 40 seconds later, Alexander Veridiano found the equalizer to level the match at 2-2.
Drury opened the second half with the go-ahead goal in the 46th minute from Voller to give the Panthers a 3-2 lead.
Tyler Fischer was forced to make a save in the 64th minute on a shot from Alejandro Zuniga. The Panthers attempted to put the game away in the 88th minute, but Indianapolis goalkeeper Rick Lammerts made two saves on shots from
David Huang and
Jorge Dorta. In the final minute of the match, the Greyhounds had one last opportunity and salvaged a draw, as Paturel scored his second goal of the match to level the game at 3-3.
