Ichabods Break Through After Halftime to Top Women's Soccer

TOPEKA, Kan. – Drury's strong defensive first half was not enough as No. 23 Washburn's explosive second half propelled the Ichabods to a 3-0 win.
 
A physical first half remained scoreless despite Washburn outshooting Drury 8-3 in the opening 45 minutes. It marked the first time this season the Ichabods were held without a goal in the first half.
 
Similar to the opening frame, Washburn controlled possession early in the second half and capitalized on its chances. After three shots in the first six minutes, the fourth found the back of the net as Leah Henke scored in the 52nd minute.
 
Less than two minutes later, Washburn doubled its lead following a Panther turnover in the defensive third. Jules Wardlaw scored in the 54th minute to make it 2-0.
 
Off the ensuing kickoff, Drury turned the ball over immediately, and 19 seconds later Henke scored her second of the match on a one-on-one with Katy Fitzler.
 
Drury pushed forward in the final 25 minutes but managed only three shots, none on goal, as Washburn closed out the 3-0 win.
