Baseball Panthers Outlast Arkansas Tech Wednesday At Meador

Seniors Jacob Green and Luke Tewes had three hits each and Drury picked up an 8-7 victory over Arkansas Tech in their non-conference baseball matchup Wednesday afternoon at Meador Park.

Drury improved to 19-20-1 while Arkansas Tech fell to 27-19.

Green, making just his fourth start of the season, picked up two doubles and a single on a 3-for-4 day that pushed him to 7-for-15 on the year (.467), including an RBI double in the seventh that broke a seven-all tie and scored Ryan Colombo (who had also doubled) with the eventual game-winner.

Tewes hit a two-run homer in the first, his ninth of the season, as part of a 3-for-5 effort. Ryan Wadkins, Bobby Lang and Colombo had two hits each as the Panthers out-hit the Wonder Boys 13-12.

Nick Costantino (4-1) got the victory in relief, while senior closer Gage Jacobs picked up his 10th save of the season, tying Zane Montgomery (2009) for the second-most in a DU single season in the program's history. Laurent Zenoni holds the record with 13 saves in 2012.

Bryan Heward, Patrick Castleberry, Cole Fergus and John Lassiter had two hits each for Arkansas Tech, which saw Josh Ryan (2-2) take the loss in relief.

The Panthers return to Great Lakes Valley Conference play at home this weekend when they entertain Rockhurst in doubleheaders on Saturday (3 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.) at Meador Park.
