WARRENSBURG– A homer by Miles Orschlen in the bottom of the eighth gave Central Missouri a 4-3 non-conference victory over the Drury baseball Panthers at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field on Wednesday.
Drury is now 5-12 enter and Central Missouri improved to 9-7.
The Mules struck first in the opening inning when Bennett Oliver singled to score Dylan Farrell followed by an RBI hit by pitch for a 2-0 UCM lead.
Conner Wilson took advantage of a Mules passed ball in the second to get Drury on the board.
The Panthers went on top in the third inning 3-2 when
John Goodrich hit a two RBI single to bring home
Ryan Wadkins and
Dylan Bradshaw. Central answered with an RBI groundout in the Mule third to tie it up and later score the winning run in the eighth.
Bradshaw had three hits and scored a run and Wadkins had two hits and scored a run for the Panthers who outhit the Mules 9-5. Jake Alexander had two hits for Central Missouri.
Austin Southmayad (1-0) earned the win for Central Missouri and
Alex Stilwell (0-1) received the loss.
Drury will play Walsh University on Friday, March 18 at the Midwest Regional Crossover Showcase in Westfield, Indiana. Drury will continue Crossover action vs. Cedarville and Alderson Broaddus on Saturday with games at 12 & 3:30 and wrap up play on Sunday vs. Grand Valley State at 9:30 a.m. (Central Standard Time).
