WESTFIELD, Ind. – A two run homer in the bottom of the seventh by Matt Williams gave Grand Valley State a 6-5 victory over the Drury baseball Panthers Sunday at the Midwest Regional Crossover.
Drury is now 8-13 and Grand Valley State improved to 9-6-1
Grand Valley took a 2-0 lead after two innings using a Jason Ribecky RBI single in the first and an RBI groundout by Brody Andrews in the second.
Ryan Wadkins scored
Dylan Bradshaw in the Panther third on an RBI sacrifice fly. Grand Valley State extended their lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the third on a RBI fielders choice and an Drury error.
Drury scored four runs on three hits and an error in the seventh to take a 5-4 lead over the Lakers.
Ryan Colombo singled to score Conner Pomering for the first run of the seventh. Drury cut the lead to 4-3 when Bradshaw scored on an error.
Conner Wilson gave the Panthers the lead with a two RBI double to center to bring in Wadkins and Colombo.
A two run homer by Williams sealed the 6-5 win for GVSU.
Colombo led Drury with three hits, a run and an RBI and Wilson had two hits as the Panthers finished with six hits and GVSU had eight led by Keith Browning and Ribecky with two each.
Tim Tarter (2-1) earned the win for the Lakers with Williams getting his fourth save of the year.
Langdon Simkins (0-1) got the loss for the Panthers.
