After giving up three first-inning tallies, Drury bounced off the deck with a five-run second and went on to defeat Missouri-St. Louis 9-7 in the nightcap to earn a split of their Saturday Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader at Meador Park.
UMSL captured the seven-inning opener by a 13-4 score, and has taken two of three in the series entering Sunday's single nine-inning finale at noon at U.S. Baseball Park in Ozark. It's Senior Day for the Panthers, with festivities honoring the squad's five senior members set to begin at approximately 11:40 a.m.
The Tritons (28-21, 10-17) struck for three runs in the top of the first of the nightcap off DU starter
Trey Faulconer, but his teammates answered with five runs in the second - keyed by a two-run double by
Spencer Wilmes followed by a two-run homer from
Devan O'Bryan - to go up 5-3, and the Panthers (16-33, 7-20) never looked back.
Christian Magno went 4-for-5 with an RBI and Wilmes, O'Bryan and
Conner Wilson had two hits each as part of Drury's 14-hit attack that helped make Faulconer 92-2) the winner.
In the opener, UMSL built a 6-2 lead after three and broke it open with three more runs in the fourth for a commanding 9-2 advantage on its way to the victory.
Tanner Hudson went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBIs to lead the Tritons, who out-hit Drury 16-11.
Magno,
Ryan Colombo and Stephan Alonzo had two hits each for DU, while
Conner Wilson slugged his team-leading fifth homer with a solo shot in the second.

Langdon Simkins (1-2) took the loss for Drury, giving up eight hits and six runs in 2 2/3 innings.
