Riley Herron went 3-for-4 and scored twice to help the Drury baseball Panthers to a 8-1 win over Davenport on Sunday at US Baseball Park in Ozark. Drury claimed wins in 3 of the 4 games in the series.
A pair of RBI ground outs in the opening frame by
Clayton Engel and
Ryan Kayhill, followed by a Davenport error give Drury a 3-1 lead after two innings. Drury padded their lead with four runs on three hits in the bottom of the third to pull away from Davenport for a 7-1 lead.
Clayton Engel tacked on the final run for Drury with an RBI sacrifice fly in the eighth to plate
Ethan Owens.
Austin Simms (3-2) got the win and allowed just one run in six innings while posting five strikeouts.
Drury outhit Davenport 10-8 and Davenport committed three errors. Owens went 2-for-4, scored twice, and had an RBI and
Avery Jennings went 2-for-4 and scored a run.
Drury improved to 8-11 and dropped Davenport to 8-8.
Drury will play host to Lyon College on Tuesday at US Baseball Park in Ozark in a non-conference doubleheader set to start at 3 p.m.
