SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Maryville scored two late goals to claim a 2-1 GLVC victory over the Drury men's soccer team on Friday at Harrison Stadium/The Curry Sports Complex.
Helmut Florneica gave Maryville a 1-0 lead by netting the first goal of the contest in the 69th minute. Drury answered back with a goal in the 79
th minute when
Trevor Cairns scored off a
Francesco Ferri assist. Five minutes later in the 84
th minute, Iwan Webster netted the game winning goal for Maryville, scoring from the top of the box on a header from Eyob Tadesse.
The Panthers are now 0-6-1 overall and are 0-3 in GLVC play. The Saints improved to 2-2-2 and 1-1-1 in the league.
Maryville claimed an 11-7 advantage on shots with both teams posting three shots on goal.
The Panthers will return to action on Sunday as they host Missouri S&T at Harrison Stadium/The Curry Sports Complex for a conference match starting at 2:30 p.m.
