Men's cross country finishes 23rd among 49 teams at Chile Pepper Festival in Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The Drury men's cross country team finished 23rd among 49 teams at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville on Saturday.

The Razorbacks won the event while Iowa Central Community College was second and Dallas Baptist finished third.

"We performed much better this week," said Drury head coach Jamie Moreno. "This young group put together a good race. We lack a front-runner right now, but we ran well to finish 23rd among 49 teams in a strong field."

Seva Nix led the Panthers as he came in 100th in a field of 441 runners. The junior from Bandera, Texas ran a personal best in an eight-kilometer race with a time of 26:27.9. Michael Boone was 129th with a time of 26:45.9 and Brenden Crews finished 163rd (27:09.9).

Freshman Matt Moler came in 173rd (27:15.9), and Ryan Way finished 196th (27:33.7)

Drury will have next weekend off but return to action on Oct. 6 in the Gary Stoner Invitational hosted by Central Methodist in Fayette, Missouri.
