SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Three different freshmen scored goals for Drury as the Panthers picked up a 3-0 win over William Jewell on Sunday at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.
Drury went to 1-8-1 and 1-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with the win while William Jewell dropped to 4-6 and 1-5 in the league.
The Panthers got on the board midway through the first half as
Trevor Cairns, a freshman from North Olmsted, Ohio, scored his second goal of the season.
Ian Conger then gave Drury a 2-0 lead in the 66th minute for the first goal of the year for the freshman from East Peoria, Illinois. Freshman
Jamie O'Brien then put the game out of reach converting on a penalty kick five minutes later. It was the second goal of the season for the rookie from Darlington, England.
The Cardinals outshot Drury 16-11, but the Panthers had seven shots on goal to William Jewell's two.
Nico Helin had a pair of saves for Drury as the senior from Paris, France posted the 15th shutout of his career.
Drury is home again on Friday when they host Truman State for a 1:30 p.m. game at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.
