Drury Cheer earns two 2nd place finishes at the UCA National Championships

ORLANDO, Fla.– The Drury University cheer team placed second nationally at the Division II level in the Small Co-Ed competition on Saturday, then was second overall on Sunday in the Premier Small Co-Ed class at the University World Cup Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida.

In the Division II Small Co-Ed class on Saturday, Drury advanced to the finals after placing in the top six among 12 teams, then finished in second place in the championship round. Wilmington took first place in the event.

Sunday's second-place finish in the Premier Small Co-Ed competition is Drury's best placement ever in that division at the UCA National Championships. Bowling Green (Ohio) took the overall championship in the category.

Drury also advanced to the finals and finished seventh among 21 teams in the Cheer Game-Day Open Co-Ed Division. Nearly half of the field in that category was comprised of NCAA-I programs, and Delaware took first-place in that competition.

This year marked the seventh time in eight years that Drury's cheer squad has placed in the top five at the UCA National Championships.
