SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury University cheer program was awarded a financial bid from the Universal Cheer Association to compete in the UCA College National Championships in Orlando, Florida next year.
The Panthers received one of just three bids the organization awarded to programs competing in the Small Co-Ed, Division II level. Drury will receive a $5,000 credit that will go toward their college championship travel package at next year's event.
The bids were awarded based on a team's finish the year before, and Drury came in second place in a field of more than 20 squads at that competition in January. Drury's program has finished in the top five in the UCA College National Cheerleading championships in seven of the last eight years and in second for the last two seasons.
Ashley Parnell completed her ninth year as head coach of the program and her team 28-member squad had no seniors and only three juniors in 2018-19.
