SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury University wrestling had two first-place finishes at the Drury Open on Saturday at Weiser Gym. Peter Kuster, ranked 10th in NCAA-II at 141 pounds, won all three of his matches to win his weight class, and Ben Stahlman went 4-0 at 157 pounds to win his bracket.
 
The Panthers won 18 individual matches competing with 11 wrestlers nine weight classes in their third annual tournament. 11 different teams were represented along with seven additional unattached wrestlers, and a total of 146 participated in the event.
 
Kuster, a sophomore from Jefferson City, won his opening round match by Fall in 57 seconds, then took an 11-3 Major Decision in the semifinals over Blake Gonzalez of Northeast Oklahoma. He won the championship with a medical default against Missouri's Precious Essian.
 
Ben Stahlman won twice by Fall and won two Major Decisions as part of his 4-0 day en route to winning the 157-pound division. The junior from House Springs, Missouri won his opening round match with a pin of his opponent in just 20 seconds. Stahlman then earned a 9-0 Major Decision in the quarterfinals against Scott Radke of Northeastern Oklahoma and won by Fall in 1:26 over Dallas Boone of Neosho County in the semis. Stahlman took the 157-pound division with a 10-0 Major Decision against Anthony Michaels of Lindenwood.
 
Charlie Genisio gave Drury a fourth-place finish at 184 pounds and went 3-2 on the day while Seth Otis went 2-2 in the 149-pound bracket and finished sixth.

"Kuster and Stahlman really wrestled lights-out today while Seth Otis and Charley Genisio dug deep to place in both of their really tough brackets. We are continuing to sharpen up as a program and compete better at every opportunity. Another big thanks to the parents, spouses, and fans that showed up to support their favorite wrestlers."
 
Drury competes again on Dec. 14-15 in the Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis.
