SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury Panthers won their second match of the weekend on Sunday with a 6-1 victory over Newman at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
Drury took a 1-0 lead, winning two of the three doubles matches.
Isaac Ogilvy and
Lukas Stierling clinched the point for the Panthers with a 6-4 win in the number two doubles match-up.
The Panthers then won five of the six singles matches.
Nico Hadeler, playing at the number one spot, defeated Gustavo Gill 6-0, 6-3, and Stierling, playing at number six, won by the same score over Jarrod Nowak. Issac Ogilvy had to go to a tie-breaker to win his match as he bounced back from a 6-3 loss in the first set to Luca Penteado to win the second set 6-4 and the tie-breaker 10-5.
The Panthers, ranked seventh nationally in NCAA-II, improved to 3-1.
Drury returns to the courts on Friday in the first round of the National Indoor Tournament in Oklahoma City.
