INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA announced the field of 48 for the NCAA Division II men's tennis bracket on May 4. Drury earned the seven-seed in the Midwest region.
The field is broken into 16 sub-regions, with the winner of each sub-region earning a spot in the national tournament in Surprise, Arizona, from May 20-24.
Drury was selected as the seventh seed and will meet the host of the Midwest region, No. 2 Ferris State. The winner of that match will face the winner of No. 3 Wayne State and No. 6 Northwood. In Midwest Region One, top-seed Indianapolis will host No. 4 Tiffin, No. 5 Grand Valley State, and No. 8 Findlay.
The Panthers posted an 11-3 record against Division II opponents prior to the national tournament and reached the GLVC Tournament final before falling to Indianapolis. In the regular season, Drury was the GLVC West Division champion.
Ferris State was 13-3 against Division II opponents this season. The Bulldogs beat Wayne State in the GLIAC Tournament Championship to earn the automatic bid to the national tournament.
It is the fourth consecutive season that Drury has made the national tournament; in those four tournaments, the Panthers are 0-4. The last tournament win for Drury was in 2019 against Wayne State in the regional final, 4-2.
Drury enters the tournament with a 54-26 record in the national tournament and 19 regional titles. Against Ferris State, Drury is 4-0 in the national tournament against the Bulldogs.
First serve for the opening round against Ferris State is set for 9 a.m. on May 11 in Big Rapids.
