SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— 18
th ranked Drury battled past Missouri-St. Louis for a 6-1 at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield on Saturday.
The Panthers lifted their record to 9-4 and 3-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Tritons dropped to 3-4 and 1-1 in the league.
Drury took a 1-0 lead winning two of the three doubles matches. The Panthers got wins from their number one, and number two teams as
Nico Hadeler and
Marlon Wilken won 6-4 in the lead position, while
Augustin Diot and
Sylvain Garin-Michaud earned a 6-3 win in the second spot.
Drury's number two singles player,
Augustin Diot, improved to 9-1 on the season as he dominated his 6-0, 6-1. The other points were hard-fought ones for the Panthers. Lead singles player
Nico Hadeler needed three sets to get by Ben-Hur Kasprzak, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4, but came away with the win to improve to 8-3 on the season. Marlon Wilkin and
Isaac Ogilvy also posted wins as Drury closed out the match to win 6-1.
Drury is at home again on Sunday when they host William Woods at 1 pm at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
