SPRINGFIELD, Ill.— The Drury Panthers finished fifth among 13 teams and senior
Cooper Hess tied for fourth at the Midwest Regional fall tournament at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Illinois on Tuesday.
Drury posted a team score of 14-over-par and held onto fifth place following the third and final round in the 54-hole tournament. McKendree surged to the tournament win shooting 11-under-par on Tuesday to end up six-under as a team and defeat Missouri-St. Louis by four shots. Missouri S&T and Maryville tied for third as both teams were six-over-par.
Hess ended the tournament four-under-par and tied for fourth in the field of 81 golfers. The Lebanon native fired a 69 on Tuesday, his second-straight round going three-under-par.
Alex Wiseman tied for 28
th, finishing with a two-over-par 222, and
Hunter Jowers tied for 32
nd, shooting 225 (+5).
Tryn Titus shot a six-over 226 to tie for 35
th, and
Kal Kolar tied for 45
th, shooting 228 (+8).
Playing as an individual,
Jack Day tied for 40
th, shooting a seven-over-par 227.
Fabian Wennerlof from McKendree and Austin Fauser from Maryville tied for first at the tournament shooting six-under-par (210). The two edged Northwood's Evan Johnson by one shot.
Drury returns to the course next week in the Arkansas Collegiate Tournament hosted by Southern Arkansas in El Dorado, Arkansas on Oct. 10-11.
