DU men finish 2nd, women's team 6th at SMU Invitational

DALLAS, Tex.— The Drury men's swimming & diving team won seven events and finished second among five teams, and their women's team was sixth among eight squads at the Southern Methodist University Invitational in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday.
 
The Drury men's squad compiled 809 points and finished behind only SMU and the Mustangs' total of 1,272. The DU women's team had 358 points and finished ahead of Texas Christian and Arkansas. San Diego State won the women's event with 907 points.
 
Drury is the only non-Division I team in the meet.
 
Men's Highlights
  • Anisse Djaballah was fourth in the 1650 Free with a time of 15:40.35, while teammate Colby Hughes was sixth (15:44.52)
  • The Panthers finished 1-2 in the 200 Back as Nathan Bighetti won the event posting a time of 1:42.82 and Andrew Rodriguez was second getting to the wall in 1:44.62
  • Cameron Craig gave Drury another win as he took the 100 Free with a time of 43.25
  • Drury went 2-3 in the 200 Fly. Dominik Karacic finished the event's runner-up (1:45.41) and Alejandro Villarejo was just behind in third (1:45.53)
  • Drury's 400 Free Relay team came in third as Karacic, Kham Glass, Cameron Craig, and Oskar Sawicki put together a time of 2:55.22
Women's Highlights The Panthers compete again on Dec. 2 at William Jewell.
