SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury Panthers opened their Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule with a win as they knocked off Southwest Baptist 4-3 in Bolivar, Missouri, on Saturday.
 
Drury took a 1-0 lead, winning two of three doubles matches. Sylvain Garin-Michaud and Lukas Stierling, playing in the Panthers' lead doubles position, won 6-3. Luis Dobelmann and Marlon Wilken earned a 6-4 victory to clinch the first point of the match.
 
Drury won three of the six singles matches and that was enough to get the road win. Garin-Michaud took David Szeri to three sets and prevailed 6-7 (4-7), 6-0, 6-2, and Stierling won downed Makary Adamek 6-1, 6-3.
 
The match came down to the number six singles match and Mark Drozdetckii came through with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win.
 
Drury improved to 5-5 and 1-0 in the GLVC while the Bearcats dropped to 6-10 and 0-1 in the league.
 
The Panthers are back on their home courts on Sunday as they host Southern Arkansas at 11 am at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
