SPRINGFIELD, Ill.— Sophomore
Isabelle Thrall took medalist honors for the Drury Panthers in their 2022-23 season opener at the Dan Salisbury Memorial tournament in Springfield, Illinois, on Tuesday. The Wentzville, Missouri, native shot a seven-over-par 151 to win the single-day, 36-hole tournament by two strokes over Bobbi Uhl of Illinois Springfield at the Panther Creek Country Club.
Drury tied for second as a team shooting 633. The Panthers, McKendree and Maryville tied for second behind first-place Illinois Springfield, who won by 15 strokes in the eight-team event.
Thrall shot 78 in her first 18 holes and followed with a one-over-par 73 in the second round to finish first in a field of 44 players.
Taryn Overstreet finished tied for 16
th, shooting 161, and
Carmen Fletcher tied for 19
th, posting a 162.
Grace Stafford shot 163 to finish 22
nd and
Abby Howard's 164 had her tied for 23
rd.
Drury is back on the course Sept. 12-13 in the Payne Stewart Memorial hosted by Missouri State in Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield.
