OWENSBORO, Ky.— The Drury Panthers are in second place and just one shot off of the tournament lead, while
Taryn Overstreet is tied for first on the individual leaderboard after the first round at the Bill Crabtree Invitational, hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan at 5,829-yard, par-72 Pearl Club in Owensboro, Kentucky on Sunday.
Drury shot a 16-over-par 304 as a team in the 18-hole first round and ended Sunday's play just one shot behind Ferris State for first in the 15-team field. The Panthers lead third-place McKendree by five shots.
Overstreet, a senior from Jackson, Missouri, had her best round of the season, posting a one-under-par 71. It also marked Drury's first under-par round this year. Overstreet is tied with Ferris State's Kamryn Shannon for medalist honors, entering the second round on Monday.
Abby Howard is tied for fifth in the 92-player field after firing a three-over-par 75, her lowest round of the year.
Isabelle Thrall is tied for 16
th (+6, 78),
Jade Carter is tied for 26
th (+8, 80), and
Grace Stafford shot an 81 (+9) and is tied for 33
rd. Jacie Pattingill is 12-over-par and tied for 53
rd.
The tournament resumes on Monday morning.
