SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury fell to William Woods 5-2 on Saturday in their season opener at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
 
The Panthers fell behind 1-0 after doubles as the Owls won two of the three matches with all three tightly contested. Drury's Slyvain Garin-Michaud and Louka Queguiner won 6-3, but William Woods' top doubles head won 7-5 to clinch the point.
 
The Owls, ranked 11^th in the NAIA, then won four of the six singles rounds. Garin-Michaud earned a win in a tie-breaker at the number one singles position for Drury, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0, and the Panthers' number two player, Yaroslav Sharvy, also won in a tie-breaker 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 1-0.
 
Drury looks to bounce back next Friday when they take on Harding at the Cooper Tennis Complex at 8 pm.
