Panthers complete road trip with win at Illinois Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.— The Panthers completed their weekend road trip 2-0 with a 5-2 win at Illinois Springfield on Saturday.
 
The Panthers improved to 7-3 and dropped the Prairie Stars to 1-5 in a non-conference match.
 
Drury took a 1-0 lead after winning all three doubles matches. The Panthers lead doubles team of Mark Drozdetskii and Yaroslav Sharvy posted a 6-0 win. Alejandro Esquivel and Tjade Bruns clinched the point with a 6-2 victory over Ivan Esguerra and Pablo Herrera.
 
The Panthers won four of the six singles matches on their way to the win. Yaroslav Sharvy went to 8-1 and 2-0 as Drury's lead singles player with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sabastian Jonsson. Marlon Wilken won in three sets over Arthur Figuiere, 6-1, 6-7, 6-0. Tjade Bruns and Mark Drozdetskii also picked up wins.
 
Drury is back at home on Friday when they host Quincy at 2 pm at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
