SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury opened their Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule with a 6-1 win over Quincy on Friday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
 
The Panthers improved to 8-3 and 1-0 in the GLVC. The win was Drury's fourth straight. The Hawks went to 1-8 and 0-1 in the league.
 
Drury took a 1-0 lead, winning all three doubles matches. With doubles tied at 1-1, Marlon Wilken and Louka Queguiner edged Samuele Contestabile and Sabastian Gomez 7-5 to complete the sweep in doubles. 
 
The Panthers took command taking their top five singles match-ups on their way to the 6-1 win. Yaroslav Sharyy, playing in Drury's lead singles position, won 7-5, 6-2 to improve to 9-1. Mark Drozdetskii won a hard-fought, three-set match over Ivan Mimica, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6). Marlon Wildon, Tjade Bruns, and Louka Queguiner all picked up wins.
 
Drury is back on the court on April 7 at William Jewell for a 2 pm match in Liberty, Mo.
