SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury Women's Soccer advances to the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Semifinals after a 1-0 overtime win against Indianapolis.
The Panthers won the first half shot total six to zero, but the half was played mostly on the Indianapolis offensive side. Drury picked up the offensive pressure in the second half, but the Greyhounds were stern in their defense. With nothing going offensively for either team, extra play was needed. Drury started the overtime putting all their force on the Greyhounds goalkeeper. It started with a shot 37 seconds into the period by
Holland Hawkins. The deflection by Indianapolis gave the Panthers a corner kick.
Elena Perez lines it up and drops right in to
Audrey Camargo for the goal. One minute and 37 seconds into each play is all it took to end it.
Individually for the Panthers,
Katy Fitzler did not face a single shot and pitched her 13
th shutout of the season. Six different Panthers had shots on goal.
Andrea Camargo led Drury with five total shots.
Drury will now head to St. Louis to play the third seed, McKendree. The game time is set for 4 p.m. at Creve Coeur Complex.
