INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Drury wrestlers won seven matches, and Will Kuster advanced to the second day of competition at the 45th Annual Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis on Saturday.
 
Will Kuster advanced to Sunday's competition in the 165-pound weight class after rebounding from a loss in his first match of the day. Kuster received an opening round bye, then dropped a 7-0 decision against Jack Haskins from Lake Erie. The senior from Jefferson City, Missouri, bounced back to win three straight consolation rounds to stay alive to Sunday.
 
Kuster won by Technical Fall, 19-4, over Jack Golowenski from Ouachita Baptist, then dispatched Isaac Valdez (Wheeling) by Tech Fall, 21-6. He advanced again with a 16-5 Major Decision victory over William Lowery of North Carolina-Pembroke.
 
Kuster faces Dajun Johnson from Wisconsin Parkside in the fourth round of the consolation bracket on Sunday.
 
Four other Drury wrestlers picked up wins in the tournament.
 
Bryson Humphries won two matches on Saturday as he won his opening round match at 125-pounds, pinning Devin Fowler from Salem in 1:11. After a loss in the second round, Humphries took down Don Lindsey from Seton Hill by Technical Fall, 14-5.
 
After his opening round bye, Trevor Christian earned a Major Decision victory at 149 pounds, 13-5, against Kieran Thompson from Adams State. Joe Kuster won in the first round of the 157-pound class, pinning Marcell Dely from Fort Hays State in 4:18. Tristan Staat also picked up a win with a consolation round victory, 6-3, against Quintez Shipman from UNC-Pembroke.
 
The Panthers won a combined eight matches on Saturday in what is regarded as the most competitive tournament in NCAA-II wrestling.
