SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers wrestling squad split two matches on Friday, with a loss to Ouachita Baptist and a win against Newman. The Panthers fell with a final score of 26-18 against Ouachita and defeated Newman 35-17.
Four Panthers picked up wins against the Tigers;
Caden Howard, Dillion Nichols, Jerimiah Halter, and
Ethan Smith all earned wins. Howard picked up a Techinal Fall win, 16-0, and Smith pinned his opponent in 3:30.
The Panthers were able to bounce back in today's second contest against Newman, which saw six Drury wrestlers win their matches. Two of the wins came from
Trevor Christian and Connor Zimmerman, who set the tone for the Panthers. The Drury grouping of
Caden Howard,
Dillon Nichols,
Ethan Smith, and Jerimiah Halter went undefeated on the day.
Drury competes again on Feb. 11 when they travel to take on number one ranked Central Oklahoma. The match will start at 2 pm on Sunday.
