Holland Hawkins strikes twice in second half as Panthers win at No. 13 McKendree

LEBANON, Ill.– Drury forward Holland Hawkins scored two goals in the second half as the Panthers defeated 13th ranked McKendree on a rain-soaked Leemon Field in Lebanon, Illinois, on Friday night.
 
The Panthers, who are receiving points for the NCAA-II top 25, stayed unbeaten and raised their record to 6-0-2 and 4-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Bearcats saw their seven-game winning streak snapped as they fell to 7-1 and 3-1 in the GLVC.
 
Hawkins, a junior from Springfield-Central and transfer from Missouri-Kansas City, got Drury on the board with a goal in the 57th minute. She scored again five minutes later. to give the Panthers a two-goal cushion. The goals were Hawkins' sixth and seventh of the year and it marked her third multi-goal game of the season. Bella Hernandez had assists on both goals. 
 
Katy Fitzler recorded her third-straight shutout in goal for Drury to put her record at 6-0-2. Fitzler had four saves, all in the first half, as the Panthers limited McKendree to only two second-half shots and neither one was on-net.
 
The Bearcats owned a 7-3 shot advantage at halftime, with the game scoreless. Drury turned the game around in the second half, outshooting the Bearcats 11-2 and had seven shots on goal after the intermission.
 
The Panthers continue their road trip on Sunday and face the only other team in the GLVC off to a 4-0 start, Maryville on Sunday at noon in St. Louis, Missouri.
