SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury men's swimming and diving team earned the top spot in the October edition of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division II Top 25 dual meet poll, the organization announced Friday.
The Drury men's team (240) opens the season atop the Division II poll. Tampa (238) and Indianapolis (231) followed closely in second and third, while Grand Valley (228) and Colorado Mesa (212) completed the top five. A total of 27 teams received votes in this month's poll.
The Panthers posted a commanding 174-31 victory over Missouri S&T in their initial dual meet of the season on Oct. 4. Drury swimmers captured gold in all but two scored events, highlighted by a pair of wins by
Matteo Vissotto in the 100 and 200 free races, as well as a Breech Pool record by
Alvaro Zornoza, who clocked a 1:48.27 in the 200 IM.
Lucas Mineur captured the 50 free race and a runner-up finish in the 100 free, in addition to helping the Panthers to a relay win in the 200 medley, as Drury swept the three podium positions in eight of the 11 competitions.
Additionally, DU women's swimming and diving was tabbed for the No. 6 position with 211 points in the CSCAA's women's poll. Tampa (247) claimed the top spot in the October rankings, narrowly edging Colorado Mesa (243), who sat in second. Indianapolis (218) followed in third, just ahead of Grand Valley (217) and Nova Southeastern (213), rounding out a tightly contested top five.Â

The CSCAA's selection committee, made up of Division II coaches, evaluates and ranks the nation's top 25 dual meet teams based on several factors. These include head-to-head dual meet results, performances since the last rankings, season-long achievements, dual meet records, roster changes (such as injuries), and data from the SwimCloud simulator. It's important to note that the poll is not intended to predict top finishers in a championship meet format.

Both Drury swimming and diving squads will return to Breech Pool to host the Drury Invitational, Nov. 7-8.
