Panthers sweep 5,000 meter run at Bearcat Invitational

MARYVILLE, Mo.— Drury won both the men's and women's 5,000 meter run at the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Northwest Missouri State on Friday and Saturday in Maryville, Missouri. Josie Diffendaffer won the women's event, while Gabe Bauer took the men's 5,000. This weekend's meet was Drury's fifth indoor track & field meet of the year.  
 
Men's Highlights
  • Gabe Bauer took first place in the 5000 meter run as the junior from Ozark, Missouri, set a program record as he posted a time of 14:45.77 and won by 2.66 seconds. Bauer broke Drury's previous mark by nearly 13 seconds.
  • Ethan Haynes was sixth in the 5000 meters with a time of 14.51.30, a time that would have beaten Drury's record and mark Haynes previously held by more than seven seconds
  • Drury's medley relay team finished fifth in a field of 16 teams as Kyle Keltner, Tanner Clippard, Nolan Moeller, and Tyler Harris combined for a time of 10:09.38, the second best time in program history
  • Nolan Moeller came in third and broke Drury's record in the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.60. It broke Drury's previous mark, held by Cole Sutton by 1.82 seconds. Moeller's time is also an NCAA-II provisional qualifying time for the national championship meet
  • Kyle Keltner was sixth in a field of 62 runners in the mile with a time of 4:15.66
  • Tyler Harris gave Drury a third-place finish in the 3000 meter run (8:23.10)
     
Women's Highlights
  • Josie Diffendaffer won the 5000 meter run on Friday. The junior from Berthoud, Colorado, ran a time of 17:48.10 and won the event by more than seven seconds.
  • Ashley Sexton was seventh in the 5000 meters, finishing with a time of 18:20.47
  • Cera Eckrenroth came in seventh among a field of 58 runners in the mile (5:10.38)
 
Drury track & field teams compete again Feb. 14-15 at the Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan.
