PITTSBURG, Kan.— The Drury men's and women's track & field teams saw action in southern California at the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific and the Leopard Invitational hosted by Laverne University, and at the Pittsburg State Tune-Up Classic in Kansas.
California Highlights
- At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Tyler Harris finished third out of 54 runners in the Open B division of the 10,000 meter run with a time of 29:32.17. The sophomore from Springfield-Kickapoo set a team record with that time, breaking a mark that has stood since 2011 and previously held by Jamie Villa Zapatero
- Kyle Keltner broke Drury's record in the men's 1,500 meter run. Keltner was fifth out of 133 runners in the Open B head with a time of 3:48.24. The sophomore from Springfield-Kickapoo broke the program's record by nearly two seconds
- Gabe Bauer also set a team record in California as he posted a new team mark in the 5,000 meter run. The junior from Ozark was 4th out of 109 runners with a time of 14:28.51. Bauer's time broke a Drury record that had stood for 15 years and was another mark help by Zapatero
- Nolan Moeller broke Drury's record in the 800 meter run, breaking a mark he set earlier this season. Moeller, a junior from Ozark, was 18th out of 133 runners in the Invitational Division with a time of 1:48.79
- Women's runner Josie Diffendaffer was 18th out of 74 runners in the Open C Division of the 5,000 meter run. Her time of 17:34.57 is the fifth-best time in team history
- Santiago Nunez-Gonzalez was 19th out of 33 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Leopard Invitational with a time of 9:38.49. His time ranks third in team history
Pittsburg St. Highlights
- Jasmyn Douglas was fifth among 34 runners in the women's 800 meter run and her time of 2:22.56 ranks fifth all-time at Drury.
- Georgi Carolus was ninth in the women's 800 (2:24.21)
- Amelia White was eighth among 28 competitors in the javelin with a throw of 39.54 meters, a mark that is third-best on the Drury record books
- Taylor Harris was fifth out of 15 runners in the men's 5,000 meter run (16:03.79)
- Luke Kerr was seventh in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.86
- Gideon Carter was eighth in the 400 meter hurdles and his time of 58.00 ranks sixth in program history
Both Drury track & field teams compete again on April 25 in the John McDonell Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas.
